Strengthen the desire to work

How would you describe the feeling of well-being? And how would your teammates describe it? Focusing on e.g., motivation, trust, and well-being helps to create knowledge about what makes you want to work and thus achieve increased enthusiasm and joy.

What is well-being?

Well-being can be a difficult discipline. As a leader, we tend to believe that everyone experiences a great degree of well-being based on what we ourselves think is most important. They do not necessarily share the same perception.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, ” The state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.”

It testifies that well-being is a broad concept that can affect the well-being of the individual to a greater or lesser degree. In the same way, the desire to work and good job satisfaction can also be created by several different parameters. These parameters can be:

Co-determination, mastery, leadership, balance, meaning, results, and colleagues.

When to focus on well-being?

Thriving and experiencing a high desire to work is important for both the individual, the team, the entire organisation – and for your customers. Things just gets executed better and with a smile when we thrive.

However, this does not mean that in the workplace you only have to talk about well-being when things are going wrong and the meaning of it all has disappeared. It is an ongoing process. The work takes place in connection with statutory investigations and follow-up. However, it can be incorporated into the ongoing dialogue in teams, between employee and manager, etc.

Changes and developments are also natural focal points for well-being. Here it is possible to look at what has so far supported the good well-being, what may have survived its time and which new things should be taken in.

Making well-being and the sub-points a general topic in the workplace focuses on our cooperation, development and not least the desire to work.

That is why I am an ambassador at GAIS, where we work to democratise the desire to work. This gives everyone the opportunity to have an influence on what makes a good workplace.
